the COUNT keyword is not SQL, it's an R:Base add-on. 
Officially, an SQL table is "an unordered set of rows."  
The data itself has to define what is unique, usually 
through a Primary Key column, not the position or 
"record number."  

I'm not sure that is Steve's problem, though. Steve, are 
you getting way too many rows back for your search, 
where you wanted only one?  Did you build the search 
through the builder?  

What criteria do you have in the search action, and 
how did you set "incl. empty?"
