Oh, I almost forgot -- yes, I have registered VB6 COM components
manually by populating the Class, etc., tables. I haven't done it
with WiX; I did it by editing an MSI with Orca directly. (When I did
this, WiX didn't exist yet.) So yes, I know it can be done and it can
work reliably. We never had any problems with the VB6 components that
we registered in this way.
