Hi Don and all,

as you already pointed out in a later message, with the 3.2 wheezy
kernel it finally worked for you. I am glad to hear that, and will add a
note about that to the next wmlive version release notes.

Just to answer your question regarding kernel headers, they are already
included for both kernel versions, as they are required for building the
tp-smapi kernel modules in order to provide proper power management
support on Thinkpads out of the box. As i am a Thinkpad user myself,
this was an important aspect for my personal selfish interests. ;)

Other than that, the next wmlive update for amd64 will contain at least
kernel 3.8.3 as a secondary kernel option. The i386 version will stick
to 3.2 kernels only, as it is more important to provide a supposedly
better tested conservative kernel option for both i486 and i686-pae than
to exclusively rely on a kernel from the experimental branch. For amd64
we only provided this option because there was enough space left to
maintain the standard CD-ROM size of the ISO image while providing this
optional kernel choice.

The next wmlive vesion will also not have firefox and thunderbird
included in the live image itself, but both programs will be unpacked at
runtime or during installation from separate archives inluded in the top
level ISO image file tree. The rationale behind this stems from the fact
that there was a critical security update of firefox the day after the
current wmlive realease became available at sourceforge.

For the upcoming new wmlive version users will be able to replace the
firefox and thunderbird archives with newer ones by editing and saving
the wmlive ISO using the already included isomaster application. This
way the distributed ISO's can be kept up to date in this regard by the
users themselves without having to download a newer wmlive release.

Other than that, starting with the next wmlive release, we will be
additionally distributing incremental updates of the already available
ISO images using the xdelta3 utility. This can save a considerable
amount of download volume as these incremental xdelta3 updates will be
only around 250 MB per ISO. So stay tuned for the next release!

Unfortunately, this will still take a while until i have recovered from
a rather serious RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) issue, which currently
doesn't permit me to use a computer in a normal way. This text was typed
with the left hand, for example. Please be patient while waiting for my
promised update.

Best regards,
Paul
