I remember when through GAF I got a on-page SEO job for a website, I was stupid enough to accept it without first looking at the code, it came out that it's a table based design with images in the markup used for layouts etc.
I've done as much as I could, but it was a nightmare. Like Simon posted, it's a good lesson.
