I've given some thought to how best to announce public availability of a
beta release of WSJT-X, v1.4. How about a brief announcement to the
effect that
1. We plan to make a beta release soon.
2. Here's a short list of new features...
3. Here's a link to the new v1.4 User Guide...
4. A few caveats about what doesn't work, yet.
This way, people can see what's coming soon. They can begin to react
and give us useful feedback. They can examine the new features in some
detail, in the manual -- and this could even help to ensure that they'll
actually read the manual!
