Can you can think of a better thing to call it? I agree that for newbies it's
not intuitive as there have been quite a few who have questioned what it's for.
Did you read the help and find it inadequate? We either need to name it
something other than split (maybe call it purity or some such thing) or improve
the help file. Problem with the help file is too many don't read it.So naming
it something different might improved things.
The one confusing thing would be that it does put your rig in split mode (for
most rigs). So that would probably prompt a bunch more questions.

Still feel like the way this is being implemented is counter-intuitive for most
operators. After your explanation, I get it. That said, I’ve made 10,000
JT-mode QSOs and it never occurred to me when I saw this. I think we might see
a fair number of folks fall into the same confusion that I felt. It’s made more
difficult since it’s not standardized across the platform.
Not sure what the solution is. For me, I will probably just build a
configuration that prevents split for FT8, since my Flex is pretty flat across
the passband and no audio card is involved.
