Hi Bill, I don’t think its about what I consider complete, I’m concerned about what the software considers complete. If sending an “RRR” completes the exchange, then I think one of two things should happen:
1. The Auto Sequenced software should not repeat the RRR if no 73 is received, or 2. The other end should automatically resend the 73 if an RRR is repeated. Everyone may have a different idea regarding what consists of a complete QSO, and as you stated, that may change by band, mode, etc. (casual QSOs, contests). But from what I’m seeing on the air, most people are letting the software carry out the entire QSO, so I think the software should be consistent in ending an automated QSO gracefully, not leaving the software on the other side repeating an RRR call until the operator intervenes. I’m really enjoying the FT8 mode and greatly appreciate the work of you and all the developers.
