If an EMP takes out GPS, there’s a good chance our ham gear and computers will be gone too… along with the power grid.
Some of us who still have some hollow-state gear in reserve might still be able to get on the air if we can get electricity, so CW will probably be the mode-of-the-day. Propagation will likely be poor too as a result of the EMP and nuclear explosion. Personally, if the bomb is heading towards me, I plan on trying to be directly underneath it. This would be one relatively small detail. But assuming that a number of other details are in order, including backup QRP gear stored under sufficient EMI shielding, it would be great to have such a reliable form of communication available under worst-case conditions.
