The point was that CAT is not essential in any case. The notion that CAT is *required* to use FT/JT modes is a myth propagated by those who don't know any better. There are those of us who do not use CAT for whatever reason and we appreciate the ability to operate this way. To successfully to so requires a level of knowledge and skill a bit above the plug-and-play appliance level. Try it sometime. :D
