So the proposed strategy (using "w3m" to explore online the contents of
the URLs that WWWOFFLE had fetched) would ensure that no further images
are fetched while online; and the fetched images can be viewed later -
when offline.

However, the Opera browser offers 3 choices:

 - all images;
 - no images;
 - cached images only.

When using the third option, I was not - and still am not - clear about
what additional images (if any) are fetched.

After the reply from Dan Jacobson, I have established that Opera
does not display all images already fetched by WWWOFFLE when used online
with the third option; it will subsequently display these images offline,
by switching to "all images".

I have always considered this to be the optimal solution - but am
willing to be told that I got it wrong.
