No need for a Linux partition, OSX is Unix.  Compile/run Unix/Linux
apps directly on OSX.

You can also use macports or fink to automate the process somewhat (similar to how Gentoo works with Linux). I have tried both on my Mac Mini, but they don't work too well together sometimes. I have stuck with macports but still need to search for source tarballs occasionally.
