Hi Abi, you are actually right. I was looking already at this and found that the used WinPilot polar file format lacks the wing area size.
The basic guideline for xcsoar developers is to not create proprietary or xcsoar special file formats, but use existing formats as they were introduced or standardized. To solve this case we could add a wing area field in the setup for WinPilot polars, or extend the polar file by an additional optional field with the wing area. Anyways the point was a minor one, because the wing loading seems to be not used for any computations up to now. I will put the two suggestions in a trac ticket for improvements.
