Heh :-) Well, reorganizing the various frontends as suggested is something I can easily do, and if that puts pressure and helps the application mature, we all win, right? ;-) I'm also planning on writing a quick document on how to get xmame running in a few minutes on Red Hat Linux, and I'll obviously include instructions for at least a frontent (gxmame probably, as it's currently my favorite!).
