Well the two RPMS have the same files, just compiled with pentium pro/II optimizations (for the i686). Libc is the main C library for all linux systems, so you *do* have a /lib/libc.so.6, it's just not the same version that the RPM was compiled for. Did these xmame rpm's come from mandrake? Not all RPMs work in all distributions. I'd look for one specifically designed for mandrake 9, or compile it from source. The readme file in the main xmame distribution is very descriptive and specific.
