Quite a twisty issue, for sure.

I don't use the games directory in my fs heirarchy, but if I did, I would put
mame in /usr/games since (to my knowledge) it doesn't emulate anything *but*
games and the odd diagnostic rom whereas I'd put mess in /usr/games because it
can emulate a lot of classic software that aren't just games. (In an extreme
situation, I suppose you could hardlink the executable to both places. :P)
