I've just kind of become the de facto maintainer of the xmame and xmess ebuilds because I started maintaining them when no one else was (actually, there was no xmess ebuild at all). If you truly feel it's important, please put a bug up on bugs.gentoo.org and add me to the CC list on it. We can hash it out with the gentoo devs and get an "official" call on it.
