Title:

Folks,

it seems to me to both are 'right' but that they both live in a different universe.
the universe of the 'betties, davids et al' is academic, pure and theoretical, and well it should be -- that's why we're on this list, right.
the universe from which the question originated however is one in which the 'geeks' get the latitude to experiment and possibly even implement 'that stuff' but have to bow to commercial and other 'political' realities.
in this universe it is quite possible (and more and more likely) that the 'backend' is XML/XSL/X.. 'kosher' and would even pass as acceptable in the 'david&betty'-universe, while the frontend is a quilt of 'snake-oil' quick-fixes to accomodate the current 'political realities' of a 'market'.
in this universe the question is legitimate and sometimes i even think that in this universe 'snake-oil' is what makes 'the successful
use of any technology tool' possible.

maybe this answers the "WHY?!"-question
;)

David,

Many thanks for making this point....it's really the key to the successful
use of any technology tool.
