Frank,

I also have a ATI Rage Mobility in my laptop with XFree 4.1.0 and the
suspend/awake work properly. The difference is that I have RedHat 7.2
with Kernel 2.4.x. So the problem could be a side effect of a
incompatibility of some kind...
