The matrox 2D hardware accelerates all 24bpp accesses; it's generally faster 
than 32bpp as a result.  However, the 3D hardware doesn't deal with 32bpp 
frame buffers, so if you want to run the DRI, you'll have to pick either 
32bpp or 16bpp (iirc).
