My preference would be a fourth alternative:
put colon-item 3 of "one:two:tree:four"
put ":"-item 5 ...
put myDel-item 6 ...
Although this is not standard MC parsing, it sounds most natural to me.
get the first "."-item of the last "/"-item of thePath
