I've been running OpenSolaris starting from 2008.11 snv_111 to snv_111a with HD3870 without any serious problems (no 2d or 3d acceleration thought). After upgrading my video card to HD4870, I've issues running xorg with radeon driver, which was resolved by switching to radeonhd (bundled with system) (and no 2d/3d acceleration yet).
