As a reminder, starting with R256 NVIDIA ships buildable kernel
source.  If you want to verify any relationship (or not) to the
build environment, you can try building on the your recent

Also, can you get the model number off the bottom of your
Satellite Pro U500?  The Toshiba U.S. web page is only showing
models with Intel graphics -- no option for NVIDIA G310M.
