Dear Mdu,

I must acknowledge the late response to your e-mail. I was busy doing
organisational work in my constituency just like what I expect from every one.
I did not mean to humiliate you or Funky by making references to your election
to be a leader in your own right through the involvement of National
Leadership. What you fail to understand was the central point of Democratic
Centralism which guide most if not all MDM formation. The reference was wether
is it correct for the NEC as the Centres to instruct lower structure and
informed members of where they should go and do ground work? If you are in line
you will understand that one of the pillar of Democracy is to advocate the
views of the people in the areas we work, live and commute and the Answer
according to your own admission is YES " I believe you should clarify me and
the students of this Communists University on my imposition to the SRC by the
NEC of SASCO because there was an "objective that needed to be fulfilled". This
was you own statement to support what Lucky Masuku was saying but you find it
easier to bash Masuku on his relationship with PASMA friends in Soshanguve and
surprisingly you never raised any view in this regards while you and Masuku
were in the same SRC?

Mdu, I thought you know me by now but I was wrong because in every statement i
poised to both you and Funky was to clarify the role of the NEC, PEC, REC and
BEC in guiding all our works. If you do not learn from that there is little we
could do. I think if you could just spend time reading the response to all your
question to Masuku, you will understand that I never attacked you as a person
or the office you were holding. You know why because of my tolerances and
understanding of the respecting higher structures.

Voters Registration Response

Mdu, could you Please enlighten us as what were the turnout of young people
for registration in your area. We needs this information so that we could
evaluate if we are making it towards a decisive 2/3 in 2009.

My area of work constituency is Tshwane and we have done wonder in the build-up
to the weekend and I am reliably informed that the turnout was good in the VD
among first-time voters despite the fact that this was during Examination
period. Since most of our first time constituency are students in the Inner
City.

Further I went to my home constituency in Venda and one of the good work done
there in Vembe District was that we manage the crisis of the so called Shikota
and the turnout was extremely good and young people are eager to go out and
decider the ANC is still the party that carries their hopes and aspiration.
This was done despite the Rainy weekend and our people and constituency took
umbrella and go and register.

I remain

Cde Nndwamato,

I appreciate your highly informative "synthesis". I have learnt a lot from your
response and you have correctly clarified me on a number of issues that I have
raised. However, your unfounded inferences on the part of how I became a member
of the TUT SRC has somehow damaged the well authored response.

Your input has information that did not come to my attention. I believe you
should clarify me and the students of this Communists University on my
imposition to the SRC by the NEC of SASCO because there was an "objective that
needed to be fulfilled". Such a statement is defamatory and do not believe fits
in this forum.

This has however not made me to acknowledge some corrections you have made to
my antithesis. I think you should tolerate other people's incorrect information
and correct it as such than to write a high spirited response which ultimately
fabricates a lie about people who have made inputs.

If you can go back to the antithesis I made you should consider the words I
used such as "Should" or "May" so that you get the context of the meaning of
certain sentences. Maybe the emotions that comes with the response would have
not arose.

Mdu,

Please stop insulting us who are members of the ANC. We are very clear of who
is elected to the NEC and the fact that former Presidents by Virtue of the
position they held they are Ex-Officio. Maybe you should consult the ANC to get
this clarity or its website will tell you about the role of Mbeki and Madiba.
You see for Thabo Mbeki to abscond and not attend NEC meeting does not makes
him immune from decisions of the NEC taken in his absent. Please Mdu do not do
like your former cdes does of selective reference, when you read the
constitution of the ANC you should read it in totality and you will understand
it well and it will guide you on the character of ANC cadres than this
commonsense approach of your.

On issues of open letters to communicate to the Structures of the ANC.

Lets stop pretending here, the NEC sent communique to the relevant structure on
the start of electioneering. Further the President gathered us in Tshwane and
communicate the need for all of us to be organisers in our own right. Unless
you tend to be this arm chair critic who does not participate on the Branches
Activities of the ANC, you should just keep quiete. The communication channel
are formalised in the ANC, the ANC has never been a liberal and federal
organisation, where in line of command are not controlled. You see my leader
there is no excuse in defying line of command and think you are more important
than any one. For you eductaion as well the ANC never leaked the content of the
Mbeki letter and as such there was no need for the President of the ANC to
respond to this glorification or monopoly of understand the ANC better than
others. I find it very interesting that among those he mention to have come
into contact and work with are cdes he has displayed un-human character towards
them and when it suits him he tell us that they will be worried for the course
we are embarking on. Lets refresh your memory, towards Polokwane Cde Nomzamo
Madikizela-Mandela offers to mediate this conflict between him and Zuma. She
went to Luthuli house and only met Zuma and then went to Union House and was
not able to meet Mbeki and he has the guts to praise sing her when its suits
him? What opportunistic. Further I do not see a point Chris Hani would have
agreed to the same way Thabo, Terror and those Pahad Borthers and Cousin has
run the ANC in the past 10 years. Then lets not be fooled or be viewed as if we
are homogenious and could just continue to accept things as they are. Change
has to happen and when it happen things no longer looks the same.

On leadership leading (Democratic-Centralism)

I do not know what do you mean when you say leaders portray contrary views to
that of the masses? My take is that we gave the leadership responsibilities as
enshrined in the Constitution and other policy document of the ANC to guide
this ship forward. Hence at Policy Conference, NGC's and National Conferences,
the same leaders are the one who are accountable for the performance of the
movement. The ANC is not a mob-justice organisation, wherein you do as you
wish. There are procedure on dealing with any members issue. The BEC is the
starting point and if cannot be resolved there it will be escalated until it
reach the NEC or up to Conference. You see what you term antithesis against us
seems to be antithesis against your liberal view. In you branch, if you do have
one its not you who take a fall for under-performances but those democratically
elected and you chances will come and you will see this point. However it come
to my mind that, Mdu you could not want to raise this liberal view because you
have lead in the other structure wherein you were deployed based on the
principle of democratic-centralism. If you do not believe in this concept, why
are you still a member of the ANC if you are one?

On Friendship

Yes we find it strange that you become a friend to people who are planning the
demise of the organisation you so dearly love. What is this convenience
home-coming. The question you should ask is whether the ANC should continue to
have people who will want to be close to the leadership because they want
favours? If you read the oath which I took and I hope you did too, is that we
do not expect any favour or other material gains. Hence in you antithesis you
should ask why do deployees resign because a particular leader is no longer a
leader? What precedent does this set. Does this means when Zuma become head of
the State those he leads in Government will leave with him? The ANC is for all
of us and this is what we are trying to correct, Your loyalty should be to the
ANC and not to Jacob Zuma, Kgalema, Mbete or other former leaders.

On carrying out the ANC task

We are going to re-educate you about the ANC, unlike you shadow exposure to
leadership through PR System of SRC at TUT, wherein you were imposed to the
membership by the NEC of SASCO. We all respected that within the principle of
Democratic-Centralism and respected the view that there was an objective that
needed to be fulfilled. As to whether that was achieved is another question for
another day? The ANC like a leader of the Alliance operate in the same
principle of identifying activities that are of National importance and deploy
us to carry those task without questioning. The reason why we carry then
happily is because we have been fully cooked and do not seek attention where
there is no need. We are all as loyal and dedicated members of the ANC expected
to campaign, defend passionately and even recruit for our beloved-ANC. We will
continue to guard its interest against people like you are opportunistic in
nature.

Towards a land slide 2009 Victory!

Cde Lucky, et al,

I have read your response to Cde Funky and found some statements misleading. I,
therefore, concluded that your response missed points more than that of Cde
Funky.

Let me begin with my antithesis of your thesis to Cde Funky.

I believe that the letter written to the ANC President, Cde JZ by Cde TM was
confidential and not for discussion in any ANC platform. The contents of the
letter was disclosed by Cde JZ to the Secretary General of the ANC, Cde Gwede
who subsequently informed the public on certain stanzas of the letter, hence
the release of the letter to clarify the public on the contents as partially
quoted by the SG.

For you information, I do not subscribe to the Open letter syndicate for which
Lekota, Kaizer and others subscribe. However, I believe that formalizing
communication in the revolution dates way back. Karl Marx, Engels and others
communicated through letters. In the ANC, vertical and horizontal communication
are communicated through letters and reports. Your question about "since when
did we develop the culture of writing letters to the leadership of the ANC" is
misleading.

Having access to the leadership of the ANC by who so ever should not be
translated that communication of concerns between leaders cannot be formalized.
Availability of leadership of the ANC and/or the former leader during this
period is another, so letters are but some of the ways to access leadership.

Being on record about availability for any task should not substitute the
formal communication between the ANC and its members. Even branches receive
communiques from upper structures regarding certain activities that should be
carried out. Cde TM should have been informed of the tasks that the ANC want
him to execute.

It is not true that Cde TM is a member of the ANC NWC/NEC. What is true is that
the NEC/NWC through the Secretary General can extend an invitation to anyone
who can be of substance to attend any of the National structures. Even
deployees of the ANC in cabinet no longer sits in NEC meetings provided they
were directly elected in congresses as members or were coopted as per the
constitution of the ANC.

I do not know of any resignation or termination of Cde TM's in the ANC. Please
provide us with such details. Isn't he the member of the ANC. If he is, why do
you create a perception that TM might have left or intends to live the
organization. Your last bullet preempts that TM might feel ill-treated in the
ANC and decided to jump ship.

I do not believe that friendship of members of the ANC should be limited to
members of the ANC. His spending time with Shilowa as the organizer of the
convention does not mean he subscribe to the initiative. When you were in
Soshanguve, you had friends from PASMA and other students political
organizations. Can this be interpreted as your subscription to the policies and
principles of such structures.

Even if leadership is democratically elected, it is membership that should be
vigilant because, if not, the democratically elected leadership may operate
contrary to the mandate given by the very same masses who elected them. I,
therefore, do not believe that leaders should be defended even if they
misrepresent the plight of the majority. Of late, leaders spoke on our behalf
contrary to the belief of the majority, what shall ne do in such an instant.

I hope that my antithesis will be engaged so that we arrive at a synthesis.

Amandla!!

Cde Funky

I honestly think you are missing the point here, while i fully agree with you
that Cde TM is one of the most outstanding cadre within our movement and none
among us can take away that fact from him.

I think we need to be honest when dealing with this matters, we have the
responsibilty of ensuring that whatever that are advancing, it must be in the
interest of the unity of the movement. Our beloved movement has indeed in the
past years of its existence faced with complex and dynamic issue including the
one of break-away.

I think the assessment or analysis that Cde Kaizer is raising is indeed
informed by the behaviour of our outstanding former President.
* Cde Funky since when did we developed the culture of writing letter to the
leadership of the ANC, worst part is that the Former President is part of the
NEC and the NWC by virtue of being the a former president of our movement.
* I think the cde has more access than anyone in this forum to meet with the
leadership of the ANC and raiesed his dissatisfaction within the movement
