Hi everyone. Just turned on my MacPro again... And yesterday's winmail.dat problem for excel files (that I thought had been fixed) appeared again.
The excel files are being sent from my own PC using Outlook 2007. Sent to another email address of mine. Both email addresses are Gmail. smtp.gmail.com going up from Outlook on the PC pop.gmail.com coming down onto Entourage on the MacBook I have checked Outlook on the PC - at the level of the individual mails, in the options tab HTML is clearly selected. At the general level of the Tools Tab - Options - Mail Format - Message Format - HTML is clearly selected also... Furthermore: "Reduce the file size by removing formating information that is not necessary to display the e-mail message", and "Rely on CSS for font formatting" are both selected - "Save smart tags in e-mail" is not selected. Results seem to be - sometimes HTML files are coming in OK - sometimes as winmail.dat - all from the same source and to the same destination ?????? Also if I do a resend, but send in Plain Text (not HTML, not Rich Text) then the file is received OK on the the other end. But unfortunately NOBODY uses Plain Text Worse: 95% of ALL mails sent to and from my mail address stored on Gmail since 2006 are HTML so whatever solution that could be out there MUST consider mails in HTML... Otherwise it is no solution for me Thanks H -- YouTalk mailing list List information: http://www.entourage.mvps.org/support_options/list.html List moderator: [email protected], [email protected] To unsubscribe: mailto:[email protected]?subject=unsubscribe
