The majority of home users and students use webmail or the built-in Apple
Mail. Students are especially unwilling to use a desktop client at all.
Removing Outlook from the Home and Student Edition is one of the things
that we did that helped us to reduce the cost of Office 2011 as compared
to Office 2008. If you're just one person using it at home and you are
already using webmail or Apple Mail, you can get the basic edition for
just $119. That's significantly cheaper than Office 2008, and gives those
users the functionality they need for a price that's pretty attractive.
