Edgar, our Zazen is simply a practice that increases the likelihood that 
lightning will strike.

Without it, we are not at Ground-Potential.
(in UK, we might say Earth-Potential).

Without it, we are profoundly deaf to the preaching of the Dharma by every 
stick and stone.

But I'd say you're right that there also are cooperating-causes and -conditions 
in our lives, and it is *these* which break the samadhi, whether we are still 
seated at the time or not.

Practice is a package-deal; we mustn't leave out an appreciation of the panoply 
of methods transmitted by compassionate teachers from the beginning, especially 
of Zazen.

The three pillars remain "Teaching; Practice; Awakening."
