Edgar, our Zazen is simply a practice that increases the likelihood that
lightning will strike.
Without it, we are not at Ground-Potential.
(in UK, we might say Earth-Potential).
Without it, we are profoundly deaf to the preaching of the Dharma by every
stick and stone.
But I'd say you're right that there also are cooperating-causes and -conditions
in our lives, and it is *these* which break the samadhi, whether we are still
seated at the time or not.
Practice is a package-deal; we mustn't leave out an appreciation of the panoply
of methods transmitted by compassionate teachers from the beginning, especially
of Zazen.
The three pillars remain "Teaching; Practice; Awakening."
