I tried that, but not the way you suggested. I deleted the device and added it 
back with its normal name into the /Ping class. Ping monitoring worked. I then 
moved it to /Server/Windows, where the default Zenoss Device template (using 
SNMP Informant to get CPU, memory, and paging graphs) is bound. It did not 
function, and when I ran zenperfsnmp in debug mode, it gave me the dreaded 
"error loading config" and "configured 1 of 0 devices" messages that are above.

At that point, I put in the hosts entry and added the same device back into the 
device class with all the complicated templates bound, and it's working like a 
charm. But it will NOT work with its correct name. Something is horked up in 
the internals around that device name and deleting it does not clear it out.
