The second book Winter Whispers is by Arun Sharma, who, the blurb
tells us, is a distinguished doctor/ poet writing in English, Hindi
and Bengali.
The poet breaks free from his doctoral duties to write poetry but does
not lay down his burden of medical images.

Sperms carving/ at the cost of their entity/ lyrical life/ on the lips
of ovums/ in the silken darkness of/ melodious serenity of/ numinous
uteri/.
It is a versification of tranquilisers, osteoporosis, sticky material
of the brain. Even his mother's blessings are on the coeval dermal
topography.

But the pity of it is he has nothing new to say. Everything he writes
about - nature, society and life has already been said before. Good
poetic lines can be found, but one has to strain to hand pick them -
Of nations/ baying for blood/ of those/ who do not know/ where to get
their bread/
Personal poems work well only when they transcend the personal level.
Some poems seem to stretch our patience too far, when he says `Life's
perfect T' is `Dolly's tea.'

Each poem is marked with a date/month/year/hour/ minute/- to the exact
second which seems quite odd.. Does it mean he has washed his hands
off the poem after affixing the minute?

All said and done Frog Book's layout looks appealing but the printer's
devil creeps in. (sent for send etc.) The jacket has all the whispers
of winter. This is a book with limited scope, which can be circulated
and tolerated only amongst a close circle of friends.
