Well, a XT/PC keyboard will only work with an XT or PC, and an AT keyboard will only work with an AT type of computer. Because of the location of the keyboard controller, you can't just switch them between those types of computers, unless you have one of those keyboards that have an "XT/AT" switch to enable or disable the keyboard controller (and actually, the data protocol between computer and keyboard changes as well)...
