Do not describe only a solution): People sometimes change stuff you added and you don't notice it. This can lead to conflicts down the line say if the edit is recognized a few months later, or even leave data incorrect for a long period of time if it is never noticed. **Benefits** (why should this be implemented?): Better community working together. Bad edits to your statements get rectified. Good edits will be thanked for! This is somewhat related as autogeneration could also help human editors... but After estimating how much time editors spend on adding edit summaries to Wikipedia edits <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T334598>, I figured we could do the same for Wikidata editors manually adding item descriptions. Here's the Quarry query I used to find this: https://quarry.wmcloud.org/query/76538 The query only counts non-bot description addition revisions based on the recentchanges table (so edits in past 30 days) that are ones performed through the editor (mw.edit) and not a tool, are not revisions that are reverted or restored (since those have autogenerated summaries), are not quickstatements edits, and the character count does not include the autogenerated section names of the edit summary (names between /* */) so it only includes the description added. Average number of human-typed descriptions added per day on wikidata: 5,349 Average number of typed characters (non auto-generated) per description: 43.8792 Assuming descriptions are typed at an average typing speed of 200 characters per minute or 50 wpm, these results calculate to: **Note:** This is across all description languages added. Spent about 6 hours trying to solve this and was unable to.
Tried making the user in

which is supposed to be used for maintenance scripts as it is allowed all

The syntax clarification message isn't always helpful and requires people translating it into different languages whereas an example requires no translation at all. Do not describe only a solution): Newcomers or self-promoters come to Wikidata and make items that violate 5+ constraints and do not take any action fixing them, leaving it others to do so. It's very likely that these high-constraint-violation items are being created at a rate much faster than they are being fixed. This is resulting in a worse average data quality across Wikidata. Here's an example of a terrible item: - https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q116811692=1835970604 Because of this fact and that fixing them is a very annoying task for experienced editor to do, I'm proposing that a system be developed that accomplishes this proposal and is implemented on Wikidata. **Benefits** (why should this be implemented?): Better average data quality. Lectrician1 added a comment. @karapayneWMDE FYI the Growth team may not find the implementation I made to be be suitable as it makes the page names inside of notifications links instead of strings. In the past, Echo used to have links for page names <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:X93w9kyu89dw9r93> in notifications but that was removed. I personally find benefits <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T324848> though to having links instead of strings though. If you need me to create an implementation that does output strings instead of links, I can create a new MediaWiki hook for when the the string title of a page is retrieved that Wikibase can then modify to output the label of the entity page instead. I just need to know if that's what you need me to do - or some other implementation you come up with. Also, tests have not been added on the Echo change yet as I don't know if this patch is good, but I'll add them when you let me know it's okay. It's really annoying to type curly braces to show a link to an entity with

link.

It's crazy that we have a function to provide entity links already in Wikibase (the `HtmlPageLinkRendererEnd` hook) but be rely on templates for user-generated links. Switching over will have the benefit of less strain on rendering pages. Actually, what would be easier to implement and what would also make more sense from a UX perspective is if we changed the presentation model of Echo page notifications so that individual page names are links inside of the notification and not strings. That way we can use the current `LinkRenderer` which fires the `HtmlPageLinkRendererEnd` hook to render the page names as labels in the correct language. Lectrician1 added a comment. Ok, I did some investigation as to how entity page links on Wikibase wikis on your watchlist, Q templates, and other special pages currently render. Wikibase uses the https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Hooks/HtmlPageLinkRendererEnd hook to output a new title link that will be in the label and QID of the entity page if the page link requested is an entity page and is not an API request or non-Special page. However, we don't need a HTML page link to output for an Echo notification. We just need the page title in the form of "** ()**" as a string. To get this, we can use the same methods that Wikibase's `HtmlPageLinkRendererEnd` currently uses to output the entity label and ID. How should we implement this technically though? Should we make a `RenderPageTitle` Mediawiki hook for Wikibase to use? After someone dismisses the message, they cannot re-enable it without requiring that they delete the cookie created. The Watchlist summary also still breifly shows shows every time the page is loaded which creates a large layout shift <https://web.dev/cls/>. Honestly, I don't think we should force the user to see this in the first place. They can learn of the resources through other means and should not be subject to seeing it each time. TASK DESCRIPTION **What** Feature suggestion: Draft namespaces are available in Wikidata and/or Wikibase where users can draft entities before they are added to their main entity namespace. **How** Draft namespaces called "Property draft" and "Item draft" will be available as part of Wikibase. On Wikidata the "Property draft" namespace will be renamed "Property proposal" and used for the creation of property proposals. **Why** It is very painstaking for property creators to manually enter all of the data of a property proposal when creating a new property. Having a dedicated property namespace could allow the direct copying of proposals which will be the exact forms of the properties into the main property namespace. Commenting for proposals can then occur on the talk pages for the proposal entities. Having dedicated entities will also allow the querying for proposals and their data - something we can't easily do at the moment due to data being managed by Templates and Categories. Organizations that manage data through Wikibase also may find use of this. They may not want all data published to the main entity namespaces and may want to experiment or verify new parts of their ontologies or data about to be added. These namespaces allow them to do this without requiring them to setup a separate instance of Wikibase. User script authors will only have to use the Wikibase API to reflect that an entity has been changed. Once the qualifier value characters are stacked to their limit, the edit button can move over them. **Expected behavior** The Edit button should move over the qualifier values as the available statement size decreases, regardless of its relative position to the text. Only the furthest border of the statement box should determine how far the qualifier text should extend. The qualifier text values also should move below the qualifier definition when a minimum width on the right is reached so that the possibility of stacking is minimized. **Statement value** **Cause of Current Behavior** This is caused by the layout requirement that the statement value text should always remain left of the Edit button.
