Well, the "beat down" stuff is more closely related to older disco/funk/soul - even more so than techno. Being that Waxpoetics isn't about techno & modern electronic music I can see why an article on techno hasn't appeared yet. Personally, I think it's fine that they haven't done a Detroit techno article. I think there are plenty of other magazines they can and have done it already. Wired magazine for starters.
