Let me tell this very frankly that I never offered anyone money as tip ever in my life. how do you come to this generalization that the lower level staff expect money? in the Indian context, the people who come to assist come with the attitude of offering help usually. it is demeaning if you hold your money before them without them asking. at least, that is how I think through my experience and understanding.
