I appreciate the Feedback...

I have slipstreamed the Service pack into the image loaded it to the machine, updated it with IE and  hot fixes as well as a old software package.

After doing this RipRep still works and I am loading the fool out of machines now.

You can create a new CD image with SP2 slipstreamed onto it and add all required POST SP2 Hotfix's so that they are applied with the initial source at time of build. Instead of explaining how in an email I recommend that you read the guide 'Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack Installation and Deployment Guide' which can be found at 'http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/TechNet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/support/spdeploy.asp'. It has all the information you need regarding Integrating SP, and Hotfix's into RIS (and any other) images.

Good point.  I have slipstreamed SP2 CD images on all of my RIS servers, that point just slipped by.  If the CD based image doesn't match the image you are using to upload (SP0 vs SP1 vs SP2) they won't match and your install will fail!

Did you slip-stream the service pack and hot fixes prior to the ris, or
after you have pushed the image to the system? I belive that if you apply
SP2 AFTER the install through ris, the image will NOt match the install.

original image was loaded from) I get this message:

 The server to which you chose to replicate this system does not contain a
CD-based image. The Version of the CD-Based image on the server must match
the version of the system you are attempting to copy. Select a different
server or add a CD-based image to this server
 
 any ideas?
