Ok just thought of something else. Instead of creating a desktop folder
what if there was a shortcut on their desktop to that volume. So how can I
use GP to create a shortcut to that volume?

Have you considered just re-directing the "My Documents" folder to a network
share? You could filter the GPO based on user group membership. If you
wanted it going to different servers. The user would be able to access it
no matter what computer they logged into.

Subject: [ActiveDir] Desktop folder

I have a network folder created for staff members that is called "Backup" I
want to have this folder mounted as a folder on the desktop of the computer
they logon to. Staff members use multiple computers, not always the same
one. How/Where do I create a GP to place a folder on the desktop that is
redirected to that network share?
