Hi all

There's a lot to be said about the Sarai model, but I think it's
fairly specific to the location and people that are involved and
perhaps more useful outside as an inspiration rather than a "model".
For anyone interested in the backstory, the interviews with Raqs at
<http://www.raqsmediacollective.net/conversations.html

I think the real questions, which have been turned over on ADA before
are: 1) who has a vision for something and the drive to make it
happen; and 2) will people support it and how? From my experience of
groups/labs/spaces, there are always some core personalities driving
the agenda. This isn't always a bad thing, it's just the nature of
groups. As media artist R E A quoted MLK recently, "A genuine leader
is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus."

The reason I like hanging out with artists is because they know deep
down that their own vision can be potentially more universal than any
parliamentary democracy, when it comes to the imagination. Ultimately
we all want something to identify with and believe in, and sometimes
when the discussion turns to strategic plans we can lose sight of this.

Ngā mihi and looking forward to the AGM!,

Danny
