ustream is really easy-peasy - just need someone at the event with
internet & web cam; create an account, start broadcasting, & tell us the
url.

re the karen network & use of academic video conferencing things for
artistic purposes - there has been a bit of work done in this area using
the "access grid" (by kelly dipple, keith armstrong, suzon fuks, james
cunningham & others) a while ago; when i was at QUT in the last couple
of years i knew they had an access grid suite but i never found out
where, or thru whom i could get access to it to play around. it seemed
to me that in fact the access grid is pretty unaccessible, unless you
happen to be in the right place at the university. & as far as i
understand, the output is only accessible to other insitutions with the
right equipment (big screens, specific software) & network capabilities
& access. maybe what you have over the karen network is better but from
what i know the access grid type of video conferencing set up is not
designed to connect to people at home.

then there's always iVisit - that does allow for multiple users &
connections & web cams ... but probably ustream is the simplest & least
fuss.
