One of the ways Taky listed to present HDV is plugging your HDV camcorder into
a high-def monitor using the component video output. You can do that with some
LCD and LDP projectors as well if they're equipped with component video inputs,
but not all of them are.Canon offers a component-to-15-pin VGA adapter that
lets you plug your high-def component output into a standard computer input on
the back of a Canon projector. It retails for $60, but I found the same thing
here:http://www.cablewholesale.com/specs/30h1-50200.htmfor only US$3.57 plus
shipping.I just tried it on a friend's Canon LV-7265 projector, and it works
very well. It's an XGA (1024x768) projector, so it had to reduce the video to
1024x576 to maintain the 19:6 aspect ratio, but it still looked sharp and
showed (to my surprise) most of the details of the original video.I'm not sure
it will work on all projectors with a 15-pin computer connector, but the
adapter's so cheap it's worth a try if you've got a projector you'd like to use
for HDV projection.Mike BoomP.S. I'm shopping for a projector right now that
will work for HDV projection, and was looking at the new generation of 720p
home theater projectors that are now priced at or below US$1000. Has anyone on
the list had experience with them? I notice that as soon as you get into a
wide-screen "home theater" projector as opposed to a 4:3 business projector in
the same price range, the lumens drop way down for the privilege of a wide
screen.Please reply off-list since I suspect we're getting a bit far afield
from Premiere.
