The Sony Z1U captures 1080i/60i HDV footage. It does not capture 1080P
but only a handful of the most expensive cameras do. (that is in
1080P, not talking about 1080i). It captures in 1440 not 1920 which is
true HD. HDV stands for High Definition Video. Not sure why they call
real HD, just HD.
If you buy a 1080P HDTV at the store don't expect to go home and watch
1080P from your cable company (even in HD), you'll only get 1080i. You
must use a Blu-Ray player to see 1080P (or similar). It's going to be
a few years before you start getting 1080P broadcast. (Please correct
me if anyone knows differently)
Thanks, Mark
