dSub is what the VGA port is. Just a different name.

Only if your PC video card has DVI output, and your HDTV has DVI input, that's
digital to digital. Any adapter or cable to convert the VGA port to DVI,
that's analog connection.

a PC monitor ability. Don't know if its dSub or VGA (Can't look now my
mother-in-law is watching her Christmas special). (I'll look in the
manual, but do you know how to tell?) I think they both look like a
standard 15-pin VGA plug.

My computer does have a DVI out on its graphics card (exposed slot in
the back. It looks like this...

Could I use this cable?

For those who asked earlier. I did some checking for delivering shows
to broadcast stations. PBS wants everything delivered on HDCAM tape
which I believe is Sony's high-end HD stock (The Sony F-900 format)HDV
is not considered HD but I believe you can shoot HDV and deliver it as
SD footage as long as it's not from a low end consumer HDV camera.
I'll let you know more as I find out. Keep in mind all these "specs"
are changing rapidly. Also PBS accepts up to 30% of a HD show in
non-HD footage, such as "Breaking News" type footage.

Thanks, Mark
