Honestly, you want to be assured of the continuing success and the
longevity of the UG. 

Having a faculty advisor is also something that MOST Universities
require for student groups to become official under student government
rules, and therefore, its also something that would be .... desirable in
this case as well, so even if they don't start out part of the student
government, they have the ability to become such.
