The form of that statement that still seems somewhat defendible to me is 
this: Wealth, especially in the aged, allows a kind of dignity that 
impoverished, dependent seniors are denied. The hugeness of the gap at its 
greatest 
certainly feels hideous to me. Government   can serve many functions, and it 
seems allowable to me that the rich be taxed at higher rates than the poor, 
and I judge many politicians according to their position on that. I know this 
is complicated, and that some sorts of seeming compromise are apt. Even 
when I was living from paycheck to paycheck, the idea of a max tax of 92% felt 
wrong to me.
