kool thing about utility is that if the pole doesnt have a ground lead or the transformers do not have the surge block on it then yes your asking for an end of run nightmare LOL

Just got home from work in Kermit Texas and Hobbs New Mexico area...this is what they are doing at water pump sites surrounded by oil pump sites.  The lightning attractor is connected directly to ground rod with insulated copper line. They get some very serious strikes...nothing else is connected to the lightning system. Equipment and radios are grounded elsewhere.
