They did refer to our connection as a DIA. They did not use the “IP Transit” terminology on the paperwork as far I can tell. Will check our HE quote. HE sells us 10G delivered to a port in their cage in a data center. I understand paying for the cross connect to get it to another cage where our dark fiber connection starts. So what is that service I am paying for called? There is no local loop involved. Is that transit? HE and Cogent are down in the $500s now, and sometimes transport can be had sub 2k making for a reasonably priced 10G "dia" to a rural location. Att 10/100g waves are pretty competitive (or competitive for at&t) MPLS (ASE) competitive in contrast to retail and you get a free 1 or 10g aggregation port at your noc/colo (40% commit required), cool thing is you can order remote connections back to this port on att or any major lec/mso in all 50 states! similar deal available with Comcast DIA att/comcast slight discount & usually a free month Thank you, TJ Trout Volt Broadband AS62809 -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com
