output of -2.7dBm is perfectly normal for a LX SMF SFP. 

The question is not how much power is being put out... the real question is how 
much power is being received ? 
(based on the the length of the cable and connectors one can determine if it is 
ok or if there is something wrong with the cable / connector / dirty or not 
seated properly. 

Since each side is Tx on one strand, and Rx on the other strand, it is 
important to note the RX on each side of the link.
