Symbol representation creation/transmission a.k.a. consciousness. It is the fabric on which intelligence operates. You cannot pull it out of the equation no matter how hard you try. You can pretend it doesn't exist but it will always come back to bite you in the end. Unless there is some sort of zero energy, zero latency, infinite bandwidth network floating this whole boat... which there might be, or I should say probably is...
