It's not Luddite. If you look at other technologies and their progressions and laws, for example crypto, many people or I can say most experienced severe financial damage. States that tried to legally control it somewhat like NY protected investors from the thousands of scams and bankruptcies. Now crypto is mainstream and grandma can safely invest. AI is existential and potentially totalitarianistic and this might be an overreaction but justified due to the rapid pace.
