John,

I've pretty much given up on Mike and Sergio who, because they just don't
understand what mathematics is all about, having dismissed it in favor of
numerology's promises. There is absolutely NOTHING that you or I could
possibly say to bring them back from this abyss. Whatever could have been
said to them should have been said decades ago, but wasn't. I blame our
intellectually bankrupt school system, that teaches mathematical techniques
without ever covering what it is really about. As a result, Mike and Sergio
are running in this crazy direction, without an ability to even discuss the
issues in a rational way.

I see this as VERY different from Ben, who though he was also running in a
related crazy direction, he had the background to be able to rationally
discuss other views. I now see that Ben's own views are shifting, and I
have high hopes for his future once he gets all this worked out in his own
mind.

Meanwhile, you have been the "rock" in this group - doing what you can to
keep everyone rational. Keep up the good work.
