Well, Alan's response is exactly the sort of problem that I have been talking about. Instead of making any effort to examine how concepts might be compared against reality, given the basis that I stated (and which Alan did not seem to contest), he only claims that I will reinvent Eliasmith's Semantic Pointer Architecture if I spend another 20 years working on this. The problem, of course, is that I was not talking about anything of the sort. I really don't know much of anything about Eliasmith's theories because that is not what I have been interested in but I am quite sure that I will never end up there.
