Hello John, I take him seriously. He is a professional voice actor. Furthermore what bothers me about this thread is that it is rather subjective. We al may be born with the same hearing but as we age and experience different noise levels during our lives, such judgements can only be based on subjective opinion. We subconsciously block out background noises. We tolerate some tones more readily than others. A noise floor isn’t bad, it is about understanding it and using it or masking it. Look at Tamla Motown, their equipment was shockingly bad. However, the skills of the people knew how to use it and made many hit records.
I have a fethead and it really does make a difference when using dynamic mics. In that the pre-amps don’t have to be cranked up.
