First I want to say thanks to all of you who respond to email like mine.

I am trying to test amrecover.  when I run amrecover daily, I get the
following error.

AMRECOVER Version 2.4.2p2. Contacting server on mail.daml.org ...
amrecover: Unexpected server end of file

I looked up this error on the faq o matic,  I checked my inetd.conf file and
also my /etc/hosts file to insure they were right.  I can ping mail and the
fqdn and the ip. nslookup works just fine.  This machine is the host and the
server, so I changed the .amandahosts to have root in it for the amrecover.
I also looked at the debug files see below
